Learning to Swim…
I’ve been working my way into a regular training schedule - at least trying to - and have been doing a little research. I’ve been thinking about the challenges that lie ahead in learning to swim with proper technique and heighten efficiency, and have been a little worried that i may not be ready in time. I’m having trouble making past 2 consecutive laps and tire after about 4 laps… Not good.
Coincidentally, just when I thought I may have to hire a private swimming coach, I Tom, a veteran swimmer at my gym today. He helped me with basic position, stroke, and breathing. His tips grouped with some of the guidelines I picked up from online research on kicking, technique, drills, and others (thank you Dave Scott and YouTube!).
Tom helped me completely change my technique within 5 minutes! I swam 10 laps today - 250 yards! That’s a 250% increase in performance from my last swim session. Of course, I had to rest 15-30 seconds between each lap, but I feel much more confident and enthusiastic about my swim training.
Thanks Tom!
